Description
Purple orchids symbolize admiration, respect, dignity and royalty. This exotic flower brings beauty and grace to any occasion with flowers that appear to float in the air. No matter the color, each orchid represents love, beauty, thoughtfulness and charm.
Although the Chinese have cultivated orchids for over 3,000 years, it was not until the 1600s that visitors to the Far East brought orchids to Europe. By 1802 orchids were raised from seed and by 1856, the first cultivated hybrid was developed. Victorians didn’t use orchids as magical elixirs as other cultures did, however, they did collect and display them as a sign of luxury and a means to exhibit their refined taste.
In Hawaii, orchids are often used in both traditional and haku style leis. Many varieties can be seen growing on a host tree deep in the rain forests.
This digital work of art was created using a combination of watercolor and dry brush methods. Watermark will not appear on purchased image.

Thank you so very much, Chance. I always seem to revert back to my Hawaiian favorites even though I have lived in the desert for many years now! Thanks again!
