Lovely shades of purple are featured in these exotic Hawaiian hibiscus blossoms, seen here in a magical tropical garden.
The hibiscus flowers are one of the oldest flowers on earth and exist throughout Asia and in Hawaii where they are often worn in the hair.
Hibiscus grow in tropical and and subtropical climates. The plant is a prolific bloomer. While the blossoms only last for a day, there are always additional buds opening that create an explosion of color.
Because of the range of hues, this blossom is often used in Asia to make various dyes for clothing. These flowers can be found in white, yellow, orange, red, purple and pink. A wide mix of two or more colors can be found in the hybrid varieties, with orange and yellow or yellow and red being the most common and vibrant.
