Description
This exotic blossom has always been a favorite of mine. Even though the plumeria was not introduced to the Hawaiian islands until 1860, it is one of the most iconic and prolific flowering trees in the islands. It is a common lei flower with a lovely fragrance. The colors range from white to deep red with several pink, yellow and orange combinations and varieties that are often named after the sunrise or sunset.
In the Hawaiian culture, the plumeria symbolizes positivity, charm and grace and is used in leis or to celebrate special occasions. In Hawaiian the flower is known as Pua Melia and has inspired many songs and hulas because of its graceful nature.
This digital work of art was created using a combination of watercolor and dry brush techniques. Watermark will not appear on purchased image.
