Description
PUA AALA KENIKENI, a traditional song by Elizabeth Elia Kulia Kaholo Kealoha, written for her husband in 1935, one verse in this beautiful song speaks of the plumeria flowers:
Ke ʻike i ka nani
ʻO ʻia pua
O ka lei hiwahiwa
(English translation:)
Seeing its beauty
This certain flower
That's why it's precious
Spring is the time when the beautiful and fragrant plumeria blossoms appear in Hawaii. A traditional lei flower, they range in color from pure white with a touch of yellow, through a variety of pink tones including deep magenta. This pink variety with a hint of yellow speaks of the lovely tropical sunrises found in the islands.
